Strider's Stud Pack
Online (pdf format) Although hard-cover copies of Strider's stud packs are certainly still available upon request, I've decided to offer Strider's stud pack online, for those who'd rather use the convenience of the Internet. Below is an index of pages for Strider's (AM/CAN/MEX/AMS/WC CH Sheffield-Ducat's Spellbound SDHF,OS) studpack. There are 22 pages in all, saved in .pdf format. If you have Adobe Acrobat or Acrobat Reader, you can download and print the studpack by clicking on the links beside each page description in the index. You can also view and print the studpack by using any program that supports pdf files (ie: Photoshop, etc. |
POLICY FOR APPROVAL OF BITCHES Strider is bred only to adult bitches (age 2yrs or more) with current clearances for hips (OFA number and/or PennHip numbers at or below the breed average), elbows (OFA number), eyes (by a Board-Certified Canine Opthalmologist) & heart (by a Board-Certified Cardiologist). I require the heart and eye reports report along with the OFA or CERF Certificates. It is not necessary to have a CERF on the bitch. OFA Cardiac Certification is optional, as long as the heart report is done by a Board-Certified Cardiologist. I will not breed to bitches with any kind of heart murmur. I do not require that his bitches have a Championship or any other title per-se. However, I do expect that they have, at some point, been active in training or showing in some form of golden sport. Strider is not bred to strictly "pet " bitches. |
Approval of bitches for breeding to my stud dog encompasses much more for me, than titles or required clearances. I will accept only bitches that I feel will do best with Strider and give the breeder a consistent and high quality litter. Temperament is also of paramount importance, as is the breeder's placement of pet puppies on Limited Registration and/or Spay/Neuter contracts. I consider Strider's kids as my grandbabies and am as concerned for their welfare as any puppy I myself breed. Therefore, I will not breed Strider to bitches from large kennel homes or to breeders who sell puppies outside the US or Canada. This decision is long-standing, a part of his contract, and based on distance and language barriers, not upon any prejudice toward any race or country. It's just too hard to keep track of puppies spread out all oer the world. Of course, I want Strider's kids to achieve all that they are capable of, but I also want them to be a part of someone's family too. My standards and beliefs are not meant as a judgement of how anyone else chooses to breed, rear, place, show or house their own goldens. They are mine alone. Over the course of my 11+ yrs in goldens, I've decided that this is the only way I can feel comfortable with having a dog at public stud. I also believe in total disclosure for both stud dog and bitch, where hereditary issues are concerned, whether health, temperament or personality. Feel free to inquire about any hereditary problem that Strider may have produced in the last 6.5yrs, in his 500+ get, or any problems I'm aware of in his pedigree. And be prepared to share any such knowledge about your bitch or her pedigree with me. Overall his record has been excellent in this account, but as with any dog bred many times, over a long span of years, there are a few problems that have occasionally shown up . It is to both of our benefits that all information is shared, so that we can make an informed decision about the breeding. At almost 8yrs, Strider is still producing large and healthy litters of beautiful puppies, however, in the past year the quality of his frozen semen has declined to the point where we won't be able to freeze him any more. I do have a limited amount strored at various freezing centers around the country, which I will continue to release to approved bitches on a case by case basis. Strider has always had a high libido and continues to be an eager natural breeder. His last litter, bred naturally, was 9 puppies. His average litter size is about 7, with his largest litter, born about 6mos ago, being 13. Hopefully, he'll have several more years of productive breeding ahead of him. STUD FEE CONTACT INFORMATION If you have any questions, or are interested in inquiring about using Strider for your breeding program, please contact me at: barbara@sheffieldgoldens.com, or call me at 512-989-8202, in Pflugerville, Texas, and I'd be happy to discuss the possibility of a planned breeding using either natural, fresh-chilled or forzen semen. |
